Taking New Enrolments Now!

The Pleasant Point Health Centre is one of the few  general practices in the Timaru area that is taking on new enrolments. With population increases, high employment and the strong regional growth that South Canterbury is enjoying, many newcomers to the district are discovering that most of the general practices are full to the brim and have their books closed. To accommodate those that are happy to travel 15 minutes out from town to see their healthcare provider, the Pleasant Point Health Centre books are open for new enrolments.

We welcome new families and individuals to the practice, and to the district if you are new here.

The Pleasant Point Health Centre is different to many other general practices, in that the model of care that we provide has been developed from out of an holistic nursing philosophy, rather than from a medical background.

  • Our lead clinician (Tania Kemp) is a Nurse Practitioner
  • All of our patients are registered to a nurse
  • Our core work force are nurses and Nurse Practitioners
  • Contract GPs working in the clinic work collaboratively with both the nurses and the patients
  • Our Nurse Practitioners refer directly to South Canterbury and Christchurch specialists, just as GPs do
  • We encourage and enable patients to take greater control over their own health
  • Free consults for under-14s
  • Reduced consult charges for Community Service Card holders and their dependents

Our staff care about you and the big-picture of your health and well-being. We aren’t here just to provide band-aids or pills. We do our very best to treat the causes as well as the symptoms and to empower you to take greater control of your own future.
